Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important political figure said the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
